Membership in LRC is open to all cyclists. While anyone is welcome to ride with the club without being a member, a cyclist must be a member to receive special club discounts from sponsors like Reed Cycles, SunRay Cafe, Big City Coffee and Cafe and on race entry fees. Starting in 2007 members who join IO/LRC before December 10 get a membership in St. Alphonsus LifeFlight for 2008.
Our main membership drive is in the late fall / early winter (November) - when the team orders its gear. Club members are not required to buy or wear LRC gear to ride with the club. However, in September, LRC offers a deal that is too good to be true but actually is true. This past season, cyclists were able to join the club for $55 - and that included a top of the line Louis Garneau custom jersey!
Our shop sponsor, Reed Cycles in Eagle orders some additional Club wear to sell during the cycling season. Purchase of cycling gear from Reeds at the standard retail price also entitles a rider to membership in the Club. Reed cycles also offers a club purchase night with special discounts to club members on the Club Membership party and during riding gear pickup.
The main membership drive ends when the gear order is sent in. Cyclists may join the club at any time during the year for $35 but no jersey is included after the order is sent in because LRC jerseys are custom made. Club members are provided the opportunity to order any gear that is available providing the club member pays when ordering.
Group rides regularly see groups of 15 to 35 riders with a wide range of ability. In addition to the rides, other club events include the LRC hospitality tent at the Twilight Criterium and the spring club picnic and then a fall club picnic in conjunction with the Idaho State Championship Criterium. LRC has also sponsored multi-day cycling tours for club members. LRC also joins with other clubs so-called ecumenical rides and also has “excursion” rides that tour areas outside of the Treasure Valley.
